About

The Can Keepers

fullsizeoutput_dec.jpeg

We are the Lewis kids, and we live  in Penn Estates and have lived here since we were born. Our parents told us that if we want to have money to spend or save, we have to learn how to earn it and then go earn it.  They also said that sometimes the best way to do that is to find a need that exists around you, and a way to fix it, and then fix it.

We once got a citation (we are told, because we don't remember) because my parents forgot to take in their garbage cans and on Wednesday, they were cited for it.  Who wants to pay a ticket for something so fixable?? Ever since then, they try to make sure to wait til Sunday to take out the garbage to the road and to always bring it in sometime on Monday after our garbage collector company picks it up.  Now that we (brother and sister) are old enough to help out around the house, they give us the chore of the garbage cans each week.

And that is where we put two and two together.  We know some of our community neighbors have gotten tickets for garbage cans because they weren't able to bring the cans in or out on the days needed. They don't have someone reliable that they know that can do it for them. The cost of a ticket costs 2 or 3 times what we thought we may be able to help them for for a whole month!  We know how to take the cans in and out, because we have to do it here at home.  (And we have a very steep driveway!)

So that, with our mom's help (her name is Stephanie, is how we decided to make this debut of The Can Keepers.  We keep your cans right where they need to be, so you don't have to worry about them, or get a ticket!

SO, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!  FILL OUT THE SIGN UP FORM, SUBSCRIBE VIA PAYPAL and relax inside on Sundays and Mondays while we keep your cans where they need to be! (or you can pay by check (or cash) made out to our mom, for now because we don't yet have a checking account).

9/25/2025 REMINDER

IIMPORTANT REMINDER!

Hello! Just a reminder from the CanKeepers of what your Can Service provides and doesn’t provide, so you are reminded of when you must make your own arrangements.  These terms are always found in your FAQs*, but for those that may have forgotten:

  1. CanKeepers provides and is priced at, a . Not a 3+ route per week service.CKs are fixers for your garbage collection errors.

  2. This means, as a practical measure, CKs follow the of a major Garbage Collector, in alignment with Penn Estate rules on when regular routes must take place. (This is Sunday and Monday most weeks, with a one-day shift for limited number of Holidays the major collector chooses to shift its collection route for.Currently we follow the REGULAR route of Casella, who took over County Waste/GFL.)

  3. NOTE: If YOUR chosen collector handles your route differently, you will have to make arrangements separately for those weeks, as that is , and if you want CKs to NOT route you that week, you before the Friday prior, so you can be circumvented (temporarily removed from route). There are no mind-readers or chrystal balls here )

  4. NOTE: IF YOUR chosen collector FAILS you, which recently happened to several Casella customers this week, for whatever reason, and doesn’t do its morning pickup, CKs, as per their purpose of avoiding homeowner citations WILL STILL return your cans so you do not get cited.   If you want the CKs to NOT pull in any full cans at any time they occur, and you’d rather they be left out during such occurrences, this can be done on a permanent basis, if put in writing, signed by account holder.

----------------------------

*AS PER FAQs you already have been provided:

*Route timing:

  • Sunday route for bringing cans from house to road, can be on Sunday, at CKs schedule and discretion.Usually, it is between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., but it can be anytime.

  • Monday route for returning cans is after 2:00 pm as all garbage collectors are scheduled for morning to noon pick up in PE, generally.Usually, the curbing occurs between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

  • If a garbage collector skips your cans, or part of your cans, to avoid a citation, unless you pre-picked a different scenario, as a general rule and noted above.

  • One day route adjustment occurs in accordance with the major collector’s holiday schedule (i.e. GFL[now Casella]). If you wish otherwise, you must request special service and referral and we will assist**.

**AD HOC or A LA CARTE HOME VISIT - For full-time established monthly customers of CanKeepers (not temporary customers or a la carte customers),  we are offered a special rate, while non CK customers do not enjoy same. Should you need, just ask.  Note that this is for a unique per home visit, so expect charges accordingly.

We encourage you to re-read your FAQS for other important terms, so you are not left “out in the cold”. Please ask if you have lost and don’t know where to find.
